The city, on the middle reaches of the Beijiang River (a tributary of the Pearl River), is the province's largest prefecture-level city. It has been praised as "Hometown of Chinese Black Tea", "Hometown of Chinese Yingde Stone", "Hometown of Chinese Female Football Players" and "the Hometown of Ma Bamboo Shoots". Yingde’s black tea has long been well-known worldwide and it is one of China’s three major black tea and also one of the world's four high-flavor black tea; Yingde stone has a very high view and collection value, which is listed as the tribute to imperial court since SongDynasty and is one of the four famous garden stone in Qing Dynasty.

　　Yingde, with the ancient name of the Yingzhou, has been known as the "Lingnan Ancient Town”. 　　Yingde possesses good environment and various food specialties. Firstly, series of green vegetables including cabbage, black wax gourd, lotus root, pueraria, Ma bamboo shoots, and red onionand so on. Secondly, the village dishes, such as Yingde Zou Di (free range)chicken, village pork, tofu, yuba, Qingtang rice noodles and so on. They can bemade into traditional Hakka village food.
